CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Police department has wanted to have Barnes County rollover their phone number into the dispatch center after business hours for a long-time. That will now happen.
The commission approved a motion by John Froehlich to have the city police line rollover into the Barnes County dispatch center at no cost to the city.
Police Chief Fred Thompson believes police have lost a few calls where there should have been a police response.
Barnes County Commission president Cindy Schwehr agrees that it’s time to rollover the city police line after business hours.
Thompson says it will be a few days before the city is ready to roll their 845-3110 police department phone line into the dispatch center.
The Barnes County Commission approved of the motion on a 4 to one vote. Commissioner Rodger Berntson voted against the motion on February 3. He says the city should help pay for a portion of this service.
