(NewsDakota.com) The South Border girls basketball team used a strong second half, and capitalized on their opponents foul trouble to pick up a 53-40 victory over Oakes on Thursday night.

The Mustangs (10-9, 2-3 Class B District 6) had a two point lead after the first eight minutes, then expanded that lead to 10 at half and 16 after three quarters of play. South Border had three players in double figures, lead by Morgan Schabel and Amy Jacobson with 15 points each.

The visiting Tornadoes (3-15, 2-4 Class B District 5) committed ten team fouls in both halves, and lost both Madison Quandt and Shelby Gelinske in the fourth quarter due to fouls. Oakes had a team high nine points from Lydia Hansen and Quinn Vculek.

Oakes’ final 2014-15 regular season game is Saturday at Lisbon.
