CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Police Department held a responsible beverage server training class on January 21.
29 people from a several local establishments in Valley City attended the training class.
The program is designed to increase the safety and well-being of bar/off-sale patrons and servers.
Some of the topics covered in the training included:
· Data and trends in North Dakota
· ND laws regarding over serving and serving to minors and the sanctions that can be imposed
· Civil liabilities
· How to detect minors/mannerisms
· False or altered IDs
· Review the current acceptable IDs for North Dakota
· Facial recognition techniques to identify individuals using someone else’s ID
· How to detect individuals who have had too much to drink and determining when to stop serving
· How to professionally stop serving individuals who have had too much to drink
· Signs of alcohol poisoning
· Dram shop laws
· Power hour law
· Local ordinances
Right now, the Valley City ordinance requires that all owner/managers must be server trained. It’s strongly encouraged that all bartenders and barmaids also take the training.
