CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Commission approved of a ,000 annual salary increase for city commission members during their regular meeting on January 20.

The annual salary for city commissioners will increase from $8,000 annually to $9,000 per year. Commissioner Mary Lee Nielson voted against the motion to increase the salary.

Commissioner Madeline Luke told the commission she will not accept the pay increase but voted in favor of it to entice younger people to run for the city commission in the future.
