CITY, N.D. (Farmers Union Insurance) The Wrestler of the Week for 1/5 – 1/11 was Jaustin Opatz. The Hi-Liner’s grappler had a great weekend of wrestling at the Bismarck Rotary on January 9th and 10th in Bismarck.

Jaustin competed in the Junior Varsity division in which he finished the day as the champion in the 95 lbs  weight class.

Jaustin had a pin, a major decision and a victory over a tough Aberdeen Central opponent.  The Bismarck Rotary featured 27 teams from three different states. Jaustin has shown steady improvement over the season and has been crowned champion of many tournaments including the Valley City tournament on Friday December 19th.

Taking the Wrestler of the Week honoros for 1/12 – 1/18 was Jake Tangen. The Hi-Liners freshman 160 pounder had a great week of wrestling finishing with 2 wins and 0 losses. 

Improving his record to 15-17, Jake had a big win on January 13th vs Wahpeton, and also propelled the Hi-Liners to a 54-25 dual win with a big pin vs Red River last Friday.

Jake is an extremely hard worker and has almost perfect practice attendance. Jake is also a member of the Valley City High School “Honor Roll”
