N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A first time event for the Jakestar organization was quite successful in Jamestown.
The Denim and Diamonds Gala, hosted by Jakestar and the North Dakota Make-A-Wish Foundation, raised nearly $21,000 total. Co-Founder of Jakestar James Shockman stated that the event met and exceeded expectation.
“We were hoping to sell it out with roughly 150 people and we ended up selling 157 tickets.” Shockman stated.
Half of the funds raised from the first time event will go on to Jakestar and the other half to the North Dakota Make-A-Wish Foundation. Shockman also stated that the board would be meeting to discuss future events around the state and how to put the funds back into the community.
“We’re really excited and happy with the turnout of the gala and looking forward to doing it again next year. We’re also looking at doing other events in other communities in North Dakota to help spread the word.” Shockman pointed out.
Jakestar is an organization that was started in 2012, when Jacob Shockman passed away in an ATV accident. Jakestar was created to help honor his legacy and raise awareness for others in the community.
