CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A request to transfer 0,000 from the economic development fund to help finance the construction of the proposed Wellness Center in Valley City were denied by the Barnes County Commission today on a 4 to one vote.

Valley City resident Leroy Neubauer questioned the funding technique used to build the facility.

Valley Development Corporation Board president Paige Bjornson says additional and private funding will be needed to make this project a reality.

Barnes Commissioner John Froehlich voted against the motion to deny the request. He told the commission he supported the request because he believes it falls under economic development.

The Valley Development Corporation will make a request to the city of Valley City tonight to release $500,000 in economic development funding for this project.
