CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State Vikings women’s basketball team continued to add to their roster for the 2015-2016 season.

Viking head coach Jill DeVries announced that Clark, South Dakota native Mackenzie Huber will join the team next fall. The 6-foot-1 center will help add some height to the Vikings front court.

Huber averaged 14.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and blocked nearly two shots a game in her junior season with the Clark/Williow Lake Cyclones.

“Mackenzie is a true back-to-the-basket post player with good hands and even better feet,” said DeVries. “We are very excited she will be a Viking. Her physical presence in the paint and ability to finish around the rim is a game changer and will only improve during her collegiate career.”

Since joining the Varsity squad in eighth grade, Huber has earned All-Conference honors in both her sophomore and junior years. Recently she recorded her 1000th career point for the Cyclone.

In the classroom Huber shows tremendous work ethics as a member of the National Honors Society. She plans to Major in secondary education while attending VCSU.

Huber is the daughter of Joel and Jill Huber.

She joins Courtney Magnuson (Guard, Willmar, Minn.), Alli Vandal (Forward, Rolla, N.D.) and Kaitlin Connor (Center, Madison, Minn.) as signed recruits for the 2015-16 VCSU women’s basketball season.

The Vikings are 12-6 on the year heading into conference play on January 21st against 15th ranked University of Jamestown.
