ND (NewsDakota.com) On Saturday, a total of eight basketball games took place on the Jamestown Civic Center floor starting at 9am. By the end of the day, all eight teams involved in the tourney would play two games each and a new tourney champ would be crowned. Results below starting with the consolation round on Saturday (1/10).

7th place – NGS 48 MK 32
For the second year in a row, the Imperials take seventh place at the Stutsman County Tourney. NGS had two players in double figures, eighth grader Jamie Fettig and junior Jayden Jangula each had 10. Fettig also had eight steals. Leading the way for the Mustangs was Sophomore Gavin Smith with nine points. NGS gets their first victory of the year and are 1-6, MK drops to 0-6.
5th place – MPB 51 KC 45
After dropping their first game of the year to Ellendale during the opening day on Friday, the Thunder won two in a row and claimed the consolation championship. Senior Cole Diede had 14 points, five assists and five steals for the Thunder. Brendan Wick had 14 as well for MPB. Ryan Sand of KC had 13 points. Both teams shot 40% from the field. MPB is 5-1, KC is 2-5.
3rd place – South Border 32 EKM 31
Junior forward Zach Fischer had 10 points and Junior center Hunter Pinke added nine points and 12 rebounds for South Border, in a game that featured five lead changes and four ties, to help the Mustangs improve to 4-2 overall and take home third place. EKM was led by Junior forward Connor Entzi with 10 points and drop to 4-5 overall.
CHAMPIONSHIP – Ellendale 48 Carrington 39
In the battle of District 5 Cardinals, Carrington had a 23-19 lead going into halftime, but Ellendale scored 22 points in the third quarter, outscoring Carrington 29-16 in the second half to take the Championship game of the Stutsman Tourney and knock off 2-time defending champ Carrington. Ellendale was led by Sophomore Brennen Vance with 15 points followed by Senior Adam White with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Carrington was led by Senior Seth Abaurrea with nine points and five steals, including a buzzer beating 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter. Ellendale is undefeated at 7-0 overall, Carrington drops to 5-2.
