N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Foster County Commissioners met for the first time in the New Year and set their sights on filling several vacated positions within the local government.

Commissioners Jim Carr and Bill Bauer discussed who to elect into the third, open commissioner seat after Les Greger announced that he would be stepping down. A candidate was not decided on, but a community member suggested a special election. A decision will be made depending on whether or not a special election can be held.

Current LaMoure Chief of Police Alan Mattice was announced as the county’s choice for Foster County Sheriff. They are awaiting his acceptance of their offer. Two other open positions were reviewed as well; Emergency Manager and Clerk of Court. A special meeting will be held for interviewing the two candidates for each position.
