N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol and NDDOT is reminding motorists to watch for snowplows that are working to clear North Dakota roadways.

According to a report, two crashes involving snow plows occurred on I-94 when motorists attempted to pass plows during whiteout conditions on icy roads. The first crash occurred at around 12:30 PM near New Salem and the second crash happened near 1:00 PM by Hebron. Both drivers were transported to Bismarck for minor injuries.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution around snow plows and follow these tips:

• Slow down and drive according to the conditions.

• Never drive through “white-outs” or “snow fog” caused by cross winds or plowing snow. Wait until you can see.

• Be patient; the driver of the snow plow will periodically pull over to allow traffic to pass. Remember snow plows are working to improve road conditions for your trip.

• Know where the plow is on multi-lane roadways. The plow could be in either lane or on the shoulder.
