CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A Valley City family was not injured after a fire started in the attic of the home shortly after 3:30am Monday morning.

Fire Chief Gary Retterath says the preliminary cause of the fire appears to be old electrical wiring that overheated in the attic of the home at 309 3rd avenue northwest.

Fire fighter worked in sub-zero wind chill and temperatures for nearly 2 hours at the scene. No injuries were reported but the Valley City family has been temporarily displaced from their home due to the January 5 fire.
