CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) ON THE MOVE is ready to help you start the New Year right! ON THE MOVE is a physical activity program for all ages that starts January 1 and is designed to help Barnes County residents set a physical activity goal and meet it!
Sharon Buhr, chair of ON THE MOVE Partnership says what if there was one medicine so powerful in maintaining and improving health that it could prevent and treat heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer and obesity, The answer is—EXERCISE!
Pay only $12 and you will receive the incentive gifts and be able to participate in the many classes and Try-It sessions. And paid members will be able to attend local fitness facilities FREE throughout the program.
Several local fitness businesses are partnering with ON THE MOVE to let people who join try out their exercise facilities. In January any paid ON THE MOVE member can come to Curves and be a part of their program.
For the first 2 weeks in February, the Fitness Center will give paid members a swipe card so they can use the center 24-7 which includes “Fitness On Demand”. With Fitness on Demand you can check out over 100 different classes on a 10 foot life-size screen!
In March, Snap Fitness will offer free admittance on Wednesdays for paid ON THE MOVE members.
In addition there will be many of the favorite classes offered like Walk Away the Pounds and Hand Weight Routine, these will run Monday through Friday starting in January and go through April 15.
New this year is an array of Community Classes that focus on a variety of topics such as nutrition for cancer prevention and survivor-ship, fitness, grocery store tours, stress, cooking classes and more! Attend any of these new classes FREE with a paid membership.
Beyond the classes and free exercise center opportunities for paid ON THE MOVE members, there will be a number of incentive gifts, such as a T-shirt or socks, $5 fruits and veggies coupon, and a skinny latte from Dutton’s Parlour.
There are two types of ON THE MOVE memberships available this year. The FREE membership is simple; you merely set your own personal exercise goal and receive monthly newsletters and emails.
The $12 membership for individuals ($35 rate for families) allows you to set your physical activity goal, attend the exercise centers listed above totally free at specified times, receive unlimited participation in all ON THE MOVE classes and TRY-IT sessions, and receive incentive gifts.
A number of businesses have shown their commitment to healthier employees by paying the membership fee for their staff; these include CHI Mercy Health, Lafarge, Barnes County, Valley City State University and Barnes County Senior Citizens Center. Open Door Center will pay half the membership fee.
