N.D. (NewsDakota.com) North Dakota has recorded its first confirmed flu-related death this season.

State health department influenza surveillance coordinator Jill Baber tells KFGO news the victim was a female over the age of 65 from the northeastern part of the state.

Baber says the latest data shows there have been nearly 2,000 laboratory confirmed cases of flu in the state, more than double the number a week earlier. The most predominant influenza found so far in the state is the type a, H-3-N-2 strain.
