CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State Vikings have swept the Player of the week Honors in the North Star Athletic Association. On Tuesday afternoon the NSAA announced that VCSU’s Sierra Even was named the Women’s player-of-the-week while Riley West received the honor for the men.
In Friday night’s Women’s game against the University of Minnesota-Morris, Even led the Vikings with her third double-double of the year. She completed the game with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The senior from Windom, Minnesota would also lead the Vikings with three steals while adding two assists and blocking a shot attempt in helping VCSU to their fifth consecutive victory.
In the Men’s game, West had a game-high 20 points. From the field he shot 70 percent knocking down 7 of 10 shot attempts. The Lakeville, Minnesota native was clutch down the stretch posting the Vikings final six points of the game in the 76-72 victory over Minnesota-Morris.
The Vikings women are currently 8-4 and return to the court on December 30th in Miami Gardens, Florida when they take on 12th ranked Marian College. The Men are now 7-7 and will travel to 7th ranked Embry-Riddle in Florida on December 30th.
