CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State Vikings basketball picked up their fourth sweep of December at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse Friday night over University of Minnesota-Morris. The Vikings women opened the night by defeating the cougars 66-52, the men followed it up with a 76-72 win over their NCAA Division III opponents.

Led by Sierra Even’s third double-double of the season of 11 points and 10 rebounds The Vikings took an early lead on the Cougars and never looked back. The win is the fifth straight for Valley City who advances to 8-4 in the regular season and a perfect 4-0 when playing in the Bubble.

Along with Even, Georgia Williams scored into double digits with 10 points while Megan Trautman matched Even’s game high of 11 points.

Minnesota-Morris was led on the score sheet by Kendra Wycoff who totaled a game high 13 points.

Valley City will have some time off before heading to Miami Gardens, Florida for the St. Thomas University Classic.

In a back-and-fourth affair that featured 16 lead changes the Vikings picked up a hard fought win over the Cougars. While the Vikings started the game with the lead, Minnesota-Morris would take it back early in the first. The Cougars would then take a tow points lead into the half.

While the Vikings came out strong to start the second they would not take back the lead for good until the midway through the second. Riley West helped the Vikings to the win with a game high 20 points in the victory. In his last game with the Vikings, Russell Robinson led Valley City state with 6 rebounds while posting and an impressive 8 points in the game. Jayden Ferguson had 16 points while Briton Bussman posted 10 in the win.

Minnesota-Morris had five players finish in double digits but were led by their point guard RJ Dean who posted a team high 15 points in the loss.

The Vikings were 21 of 24 from the free throw line in a game that featured 42 fouls, 20 of which were against the Cougars. From the field the Vikings shot 43% while Morris was 40%.

The Vikings advance to 7-7 on the season. They will travel to Daytona Beach, Florida on December 30th to take 7th ranked Embry-Riddle who is currently 10-0 on the year.
