N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Six finalists have been picked for two openings on North Dakota’s Board of Higher Education. A nominating committee chose the finalists. North Dakota school superintendent Kirsten Baesler is chairwoman of the committee. She says the diversity of this year’s finalist come from a wide range of occupations.

The first group of finalists is former state senator Nick Hacker of Bismarck, former University of North Dakota administrator Alice Hoffert and seed company owner Terry Goerger of Mantador.

The second group is Fort Ransom banker Greg Stemen, Bottineau education director Cynthia Jelleberg and Bismarck engineer Thomas Atkinson.

Governor Jack Dalrymple will nominate someone from each of the two groups for the Board of Higher Education.

The governor’s choices have to be confirmed by the North Dakota Senate before they start their terms in July.
