N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Game & Fish Department is reminding winter anglers to clean up ice after fishing.

Items such as trash and caught fish apply. It is not only unsightly, but it is illegal to leave fish behind on the ice. Anglers must immediately release the fish back unharmed or reduce them to their daily possession. It’s common practice to fillet fish on ice, but if they don’t clean up afterwards, it becomes a problem.

Fisheries Chief Greg Powers stated that when anglers fish, “Pack it in, pack it out. It applies to all trash including aluminum cans and Styrofoam containers.”
