CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State Vikings Men’s and Women’s basketball teams both picked up wins over Trinity Bible College on Tuesday night at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse. With a strong transition offense the Women picked up a decisive 85-33 victory. The men used strong defense to knock off the Lions 74-59.

In the women’s game , Valley City State out scored Trinity Bible 35-11 in points off of turnovers. A majority of those transition points came in the second half where the Vikings outscored the Lions 47-11.
Sierra Even led the Vikings with a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Tracie Boehmlehner knocked down four three pointers to match Even’s 16 point total, and Sadiqah Jihad led Valley City with 8 assists in the game.
Janae Droste was the top scorer for the Lions finishing the game with 16 points.
The Victory advances VCSU to 4-4 in the regular season.
Men: Valley City 74 Trinity Bible 59
The Vikings men worked their way to victory with strong defense. The duo of Anthony Saavedra and Quinton Peterson took on the tough task of slowing down the Lions Nick Lentz who was averaging nearly 20 points and 11 rebounds a game, they did. The Vikings tandem allowed the high scoring forward to just five points and four rebounds under the basket.
The Vikings offense was spear headed by Riley West who finished with a game high 15 points and five rebounds. Jayden Ferguson, Mac Kroeplin, Peterson, and Marcus Weeks all had 9 points for the home team.
Valley City now holds a record of 4-6 on the year.
