CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The North Star Athletic Association has named Valley City State’s Sadiqah Jihad the Women’s basketball player of the Week.
The Minneapolis, Minnesota native opened the weekend Saturday dropping 14 points, grabbing five rebounds and snatching the ball away from Viterbo on four occasions. Despite the strong play of Jihad the Vikings fell just short of victory in a 61-49 final.
In VCSU’s second game of the weekend, the Viking’s point guard helped the her team to a 88-49 win over future North Star opponent Waldorf College. Jihad once again shined on the court scoring seven point, pulling down four boards, dishing out two assists and recording one steal.
For the week of November 16th Jihad averaged just over 10 points, four rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist a game. She finished 6-for 14 from the field and made two of five from behind the arc.
The Viking women make their way west to Montana this weekend for games against Montana University – Northern and the University of Great Falls on Friday and Saturday.
