CITY (NewsDakota.com) Five players scored in double figures as the Valley City State University men’s basketball team won their first game in November this season with an 84-71 victory on Friday night against Crossroads College.

After a slow start, the Vikings found their legs in the second half while the Knights began to falter. After trailing 50-43 early on in the second half, the Vikings went on a 30-13 run to pull away. VCSU managed to shoot 51 percent from the floor in the second twenty minutes, as opposed to Crossroads who managed only 31 percent from the field.

Jayden Ferguson lead the way scoring for VCSU with 17 points. Britton Bussman netted 16, while Riley West had 15, Alex Quist had 12 and Quinton Peterson scored 10.

VCSU now stands at 3-4, and will next play an exhibition contest in Sioux Falls against Augustana College on Wednesday.
