(NewsDakota.com) The starting quarterback and safety of the Oakes High School football team was recognized on the statewide level on Friday as part of the Dakota Bowl State Championships at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.
Bryce Meehl was selected as the Class A Outstanding Athlete by the North Dakota High School Coaches Association and Powerade.

In his third and final season as the Tornado’s starting quarterback, Meehl put up more than impressive numbers; completing 62 percent of his passes for just of 1700 yards and 24 touchdowns with a quarterback rating of 126.8. Defensively, Meehl lead his team with five interceptions.
Oakes finished with a record of 9-1, and won the Class A Region I Championship with a perfect record of 7-0 against Region I opponents.
