A. Wittmier, 89, Streeter, ND died early Sunday morning November 9, 2014 at the Wishek Community Hospital in Wishek, ND surrounded by his loving family.
Jake Wittmier was born November 24, 1924 on the family farm west of Streeter, ND, the son of William Wittmier and Elizabeth (Harter) Wittmier. He received his elementary education in the local school and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he worked on the family farm and with area farmers.
He and Elsie A. Barnick were married June 21, 1946 at Beach, ND. They made their home on a farm west of Streeter where they resided for close to 70 years. They also milked cows for 50 years. In August of 2014 they moved into Streeter.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Streeter where he served on the Board for many years. Jake was a loving and dedicated husband and father, and he enjoyed the music performed by his wife and the Feist Band.
Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Elsie, Streeter, ND; two sons, Doug (Glenna Spitzer) Wittmier, Streeter, ND, Dale (Denise) Wittmier, Streeter, ND; 9 grandchildren, Amy Borders, Neil (Talia) Wittmier, Todd Wittmier, Amanda Wittmier, Justin (Kayla) Wittmier, Christopher Wittmier, Austin Wittmier, Barret (Carina) Wittmier and Christa (Randy) Wittmier; 13 great grandchildren, Jayden, Erica, Chloe, Lane, Katey, Jordan, Brenna, Trent, Aiden, Laykin, Wyatt, Riley and Cambry; 1 sister, Freida Kirschenmann, Jamestown, ND; 1 brother, Clifford (Delores) Wittmier, Hardin, MT; and honorary daughter, Tylene (Mike) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Eugene, Arthur, and Ervin, one sister, Rachel and one sister in infancy and one daughter-in-law, Shirley.
Memorial Service will be at 1:00 PM Friday, November 14, 2014 in the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Ryan Ferwerda, officiating.
Interment will be made in the Zion Reformed Cemetery, west of Streeter, ND.
