CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An administrator from a university in Kansas is the new president at Valley City State University.
The North Dakota Board of Higher Education on Thursday named Tisa Mason to take over the job. She has spent the last six years as vice president of student affairs at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Mason succeeds Steven Shirley, who left to become president of Minot State University.
Mason told newsdakota.com that she is excited about taking over as president of Valley City State University. She said the welcome she and her husband Bill received has been fantastic. On the lighter side, Mason said as a native of Massachusetts, she’s no stranger to snow once it falls in the Valley City area.
Mason has previously served as dean of student life at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, executive director of the Sigma Kappa Sorority and Foundation, adjunct professor at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, and director of student life and assistant professor at Christopher Newport University.
The board interviewed Mason behind closed doors Thursday morning in Valley City and was selected unanimously by the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education on the VCSU campus on Thursday, October 30.
