Zahn, 80, of LaMoure, ND, passed away October 17, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, where she had been a resident since March 16, 2010.

She was born on May 18, 1934 on the family farm near Linton, North Dakota to Joe and Rose (Gross) Zahn. She was baptized at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Linton. In 1936, the family moved to their farm south of LaMoure, where she grew up and lived her entire life. She received First Communion and was confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Veronica attended country school at James River Valley #1. After her mother died, she took care of her father until he passed away, and then she went to work for the LaMoure Public School. She later worked at the clinic in LaMoure and Green Iron Equipment, before having a stroke and entering the Good Samaritan Society. She enjoyed reading, embroidery work, and some traveling with her friends.

She is survived by her brother, Sylvestor Zahn, LaMoure, ND; a sister, Mary Wilkes, Houston, MN; and eight nieces and nephews, John Wilkes, Ronald Wilkes, Linda Hartl, Lisa Jennings, Michelle Wilkes, Loren Zahn, Lonnie Zahn, and Lynette Danuser & families. Veronica was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law, Joyce Zahn and a brother-in-law, Wilfred Wilkes.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 8:00 to 8:30 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 8:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, LaMoure. Her Funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church, with burial to follow at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery near LaMoure.
