N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A rural Fessenden man escaped serious injury after the International truck he was driving while pulling an empty hopper trailer was struck by a train Tuesday shortly after 2pm on a gravel township road southeast of Fessenden.

The Highway Patrol says the driver 58 year-old Scott Fleming of rural Fessenden failed to stop for a southeast bound Canadian Pacific Railway train.

The patrol says the train struck the right rear of the semi trailer. The impact from the crash pushed the truck and trailer into a ditch. The train slowed and stopped near the scene. The crash remains under investigation with the Highway Patrol.
