Johnson, 86, of Oakes, ND, passed away September 26, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes.

Ruth Geraldine Appelquist, daughter of Fred and Ida (Nordstrom) Appelquist was born November 11, 1927 in Aberdeen, SD. She grew up and went to country school in Kent Township near Fullerton, ND before attending Oakes High School and Ellendale Normal College in Ellendale. Geraldine was united in marriage to Arnold Johnson on March 22, 1955 at Oakes. They lived and farmed near Oakes until retiring in 1982. Over the years, Geraldine was a secretary for Grace Lutheran Church, and she also worked for Budd Larson. Arnold passed away January 24, 1994. Geraldine became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in October of 2006.

She loved all animals, especially dogs and cats. Geraldine also enjoyed being on the farm, and whenever you would visit with her, she wanted to know what was going on at the farm.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ida and her husband, Arnold.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with her funeral to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes. Burial will be at the Oakes View Cemetery. An on-line guestbook may be signed at www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com
