CITY, N.D. (NewsDaktoa.com) Valley City State has two more North Star Athletic Association Players-of-the-Week with Volleyball’s Alley Theroux and golf’s Daniel Sam receiving this week’s honor in their respective sports.
On the Volleyball court, Theroux picked up the honor of Offensive Player-of-the-Week with 38 kills in a pair of conference games over the weekend. In a four game loss to the #24 University of Jamestown, the Alberta, Canada native posted 17 kills. She would add 21 more kills the following day against Dickinson State helping the Vikings recover from a 2-0 deficit to a 3-2 victory.
On the golf Links, Daniel Sam earned the Player-of-the-Week honors with a couple of strong invitational finishes. In Benson, Minnesota at the Cougar Invitational, Sam picked up his first career collegiate title by scoring a 3-under par 67. The win helped the Vikings claim the team championship. Over the weekend, Sam shot a two day 160 at the University of Jamestown Invite putting him in 18th place. He opened play with an 81 before he bettered his game on day two with a 79.
