D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – Senator John Hoeven announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded four grants totaling $730,000 to cities and counties in North Dakota to create new and preserve existing law enforcement officer positions.
The funds were made available through the DOJ’s COPS Hiring Program and will support salary and benefits for six officer positions in the state. Below are the areas as well as the amount awarded to each area from the recently received funds.
• City of West Fargo – $375,000
• Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office – $125,000
• Tioga Police Department – $125,000
• Griggs County Sheriff’s Office – $103,877
Hoeven announces these funds after pushing to bring additional resources from the FBI and DEA to help state and local law enforcement officials with the growing number of crimes in the state.
