(NewsDakota.com) So far, the 2014 Oakes High School football team is the talk of the region, and possibly a topic of discussion in other parts of the state when it comes to Class A football. More talk may soon follow as the Tornadoes on homecoming night threw up the most points this season with a 57-14 declawing of the Northern Cass Jaguars.

The scoring for Oakes happened on the opening play of the game with an Ethan Zetocha 85 yard touchdown kickoff return. Zetocha later caught a touchdown pass from Bryce Meehl in the first quarter, while Meehl threw another two strikes for scores within a matter of seven seconds in the second quarter. Eric Loepp added two running scores, Austin Kelly notched his first touchdown of the year, and even the Tornado defense became a part of the scoring rout with a 53 yard fumble return by Jed Bopp.

Oakes now stands at 4-0 and 3-0 in Class A Region I, and will head to Hillsboro next Friday night to face Hillsboro/Central Valley.
