N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the new million Cenex Harvest States rail propane terminal west of Hannaford.
State Representative Don Vigesaa of Cooperstown says the terminal will be a good economic driver for the region.
Executive Director of the North Dakota Propane Gas Association Mike Rude says the new terminal will help supply propane to customers especially those affected by the closing of the Cochin pipeline. Rude says it’s nice to see CHS step up to the plate to meet the demands of farmers and residential customers in the area.
The propane storage capacity will be 1,080,000 gallons as twelve 90,000 gallon tanks are in place. The site will be able to unload six rail cars every 4 and a-half hours with two truck loading bays capable of loading six trucks per hour.
CHS Propane Account Manager for North Dakota and South Dakota Les Clucas says as the demand for propane increased, CHS decided to make an investment to meet those needs in the region.
The propane terminal is owned by Cenex Harvest State’s and will be operated by Central Plains Ag Services, a joint venture with CHS Inc.
Central Plains Ag Services General Manager Ben Jacob says the joint venture with the two companies is a great fit and will benefit customers in the region.
Propane Terminal Manager Mike Post says the site west of Hannaford will be open 24 hours a day.
