Bauer, 75, of Bismarck, ND, died June 29, 2014 at St. Alexis Medical Center, Bismarck.

Betty L. Dewald was born on September 29, 1938, in Kidder Co., ND the daughter of John and Lydia (Kirschenmann) Dewald. She attended country school and graduated from Streeter High School, Streeter, ND, then attended Jamestown College.

Betty married Ronald D. Bauer in 1957 in Gackle, ND. They made their home in Jamestown where she worked as a legal assistant.  In 1966, they moved to Seattle, WA where she continued her education at City University in Seattle and received a PLS degree.  While attending the university, she also worked for a totally blind attorney until she retired in 1978.  In 2010 they moved to Bismarck.

Betty was happiest in life when she was helping others.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ron, of Bismarck; her sister, Jean Morrison, of Edina, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Alvin, Helmuth, Elton, Harry, and Gerhart; and one infant sister, Eileen.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Jamestown, with Rev. Martin Nussbaum officiating.

Visitation: None scheduled.

Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
