L Langer, age 85, of Valley City, ND and formerly of Alice, ND died Tuesday Sept. 16, 2014 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City, ND with Msgr. Dennis Skonseng celebrant.  Visitation will be from 5PM until 7 PM Thursday at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City with a Prayer Service recited at 7 PM.  Interment will take place in the Alice Community Cemetery at 1:30 PM Friday.

Ruth Langer was born Feb. 3, 1929 at her grandmother’s house at Tower City, ND the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Outram) Aljoe.  She grew up at Tower City and attended school there and on Oct. 28, 1947 was married to Leo Langer.  The couple made their home and farmed near Alice, ND where they raised a family.  Ruth and Leo retired from farming and in 1987 moved to Valley City.  Leo passed away in 2002 and Ruth continued to make her home at Valley City, moving to the Sheyenne Care Center in 2010.  Ruth was active as a 4-H Leader, member of the El-Cliff Homemakers Club, and the St. Henry’s Altar Society–all at Alice, ND.

Ruth is survived by her three children: Wayne (Maureen) Langer, Fingal, ND, Debbie (Mike) Kohler, Valley City, ND, and Gary (Pamela) Langer, Columbus, NE; 6 grandchildren: Nicole (Barry) Davidson, Rachel (Steve) Schall, Jeremy (Breya) Langer, Matthew (fiancee Tami) Langer, Jedidiah (Katie) Kohler, and Brittany Kohler; 8 great grandchildren: Kaden and Kaia Davidson, Hudson and Landon Schall, Ean and MacKenzie Langer, Lorali Hopwood, and Drew Kohler; a brother Duane (Muriel) Aljoe, Fargo, ND; two sisters Darlene (James) Anderson, Wyndmere, ND and Ardis (Harold) Oettle, Cooperstown, ND.  Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Joseph.
