D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced today that a total of more than $4 million in federal funding will be issued for improvements to airports in the state.

Heitkamp stats that with the need and increase in demand for air travel, many airports are making necessary updates and improvements to accommodate the growth.

“Our airports provide lifelines to our communities – promoting economic development, tourism, job growth, and so much more – and by helping them expand, we’re also improving safety for passengers and airport personnel.” Heitkamp stated.

Jamestown will receive roughly $729,000 for wetland mitigation. Funds will be used to drain wetland on the airport property. $800,000 in federal funds were given last may for new Aircraft Rescue and a Fire Fighting vehicle in Jamestown.
