(NewsDakota.com) Another season for the Oakes High School football team has started with a win, and now the Tornadoes will attempt for two in a row as they head to Kulm on Friday night to take on the Thunder of Ellendale-Edgeley/Kulm.
Oakes came out swinging in the opening week of the season last Friday with a 20 point victory over Britton-Hecla South Dakota. Members of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association have taken notice of what this team may be able to do on a weekly basis; as Oakes was placed in a tie for second in the first Class A Football Poll of 2014.
The Thunder are still searching for their first victory since forming the new co-op last season. EEK started 2014 with a 40-8 loss in week one to Lakota/Edmore/Dakota Prairie.
Coverage from Kulm starts at 6:30 on KDDR-AM 1220 and NewsDakota.com, with kickoff set for around 7 p.m. Friday night.
