N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – All migratory game bird hunters are reminded that Harvest Information Program registration is required September 1st. Game and Fish recommends that early Canadian Goose season hunters get HIP certified before the August 15th opener.
HIP Certification is required for hunting ducks, geese, swans, mergansers, coots, cranes and many others. The registration creates a database of names and addresses of hunters and a sample of all hunters will receive a questionnaire regarding activity and the number of birds harvested. Compliance is essential in order to obtain reliable estimates of the annual harvest of all migratory game bird species.
Hunters who have purchase a license electronically already can call 800-406-6409 to get HIP certified. Otherwise, call 888–634-4798 to get registered. Those who have registered in the Spring season don’t have to register again.
