S.D. (NSAA Sports Information) – For the second straight season, the University of Jamestown (N.D.) was picked as the favorite to win the conference title in the 2014 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Preseason Coaches’ Volleyball Poll.  The Jimmies earned four first-place votes and tallied 34 points in the poll.

Mayville State (N.D.), who was picked second with 29 points, received two first-place votes.  Dickinson State (N.D.), newcomer to the NSAA conference this season, was picked third with 21 points.

Dakota State (S.D.) was picked fourth with 19 points, while Valley City State (N.D.) was fifth with 15 points.  Presentation (S.D.) was sixth with 12 points.

Jamestown won the inaugural NSAA conference regular-season and conference tournament titles last season with an overall record of 26-8 and 8-0 NSAA conference record.

The 2014 NSAA Volleyball Conference Tournament Champions will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament Opening Round on Nov. 22.  The 35th Annual NAIA Volleyball Championship is set for December 2-6, 2014, at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

The 2014 NSAA volleyball season will consist of 10 conference matches with six teams competing for the conference crown.  The NSAA conference season kicks off on Sept. 18 when Dakota State hosts Presentation in Madison.
