CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Barnes ON THE MOVE Partnership would like to invite everyone to come out and taste FREE samples of grilled vegetables at the Farmers Market on Thursday, August 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Shopko Parking Lot. Dr. James Buhr, physician at Sanford Clinic will be the guest chef again this year.
As summer begins to wind down, vegetable gardens are bursting with color and offer a variety of flavor and nutrients! The Farmers Market offers a fantastic supply of vegetables just waiting to be added to our dinner tables. Remember the goal is to fill ½ our plates with fruits and vegetables!
The fruits and veggies available at the Farmers Market are locally grown and picked usually the same day, so you won’t find anything fresher!
Eating a variety of fruits and veggies may help reduce the risk of many diseases, including heart disease, high blood pressure and some cancers.
When you visit the Farmers Market, try a new fruit or vegetable, or prepare your produce a new way. Ask the vendor to share his/her favorite way to prepare a particular type of produce they are selling that day.
Bring your kids to the market. Give your children each $2.00 and let them make their own selection.
