(NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Post 25 American Legion team has advance to the semifinals of the 2014 State Class B American Legion Baseball Tournament, while LaMoure Post 19 and Enderlin Post 221 will each have a contest Friday to keep their seasons alive.
Carrington’s Logan Clifton scored the winning run in the bottom of the eight inning courtesy of a Brady Bickett hit to defeat Enderlin 4-3 in eight innings in the final of the four games played on Thursday. Post 25 forced extra innings after rallying from a 3-1 deficit with a run in each the sixth and seventh innings. Brady Smith, the winning pitcher in the contest, picked up a double in the seventh and later scored to tie the game. Post 221 had a solo home run from Spencer Gillund to start the fourth inning.
In the previous game, LaMoure came back from an 8-0 hole but fell shot 8-6 to Thompson. Post 181 scored all eight runs between the second and fourth innings before Post 19 added a three spot in the bottom half of the fourth. Post 19′ stranded a total of 14 runners on base, and left at least one on base in every inning.
The two-loser out games to start Thursday’s play saw Nelson County eliminate Renville County 12-2, and Langdon sending Burlington home after a 10-2 victory.
Friday’s play features two loser-out games with LaMoure and Langdon at 1 p.m. followed by Nelson County and Enderlin at 4 p.m. The lone winner’s bracket contest has Carrington and Thompson playing at 7 p.m. All games will have coverage starting around 15 minutes before first pitch on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com
