CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The big move for the historic City Park band shell has been completed. The 1931 foundation was badly damaged following spring flooding in 2009 and 2011.
A community wide effort helped raise money to move the band shell on to a new foundation a few feet north of the current structure.
Below are photos of the structure before the move was completed on July 23.
Valley City Parks and Recreation Director Tyler Jacobson says other repairs will have to be made to the band shell before the structure can be used once again. Jacobson says it’s hard to say when the structure will be ready to hold future events.
A Carrington, North Dakota house moving company is doing the work of lifting and placing the structure onto it’s new foundation.
