N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Housing has been an on-going concern for communities with-in the oil-patch counties of North Dakota. But officials in the City of Carrington say the housing crunch extends beyond the oil patch region.

James Linderman is Economic Developer for the City of Carrington. He says the energy boom has created a new wave of traffic for the town of roughly 25-hundred people. Linderman says truck traffic has increased significantly along Highway 200 and U-S Highway 281, which intersect in Carrington. He says the traffic is bound for Canada to the north and the oil patch to the west. He says generating new housing would allow some of the drivers to make Carrington home instead of one part of the commute.

But Linderman says there are efforts being made to foster growth. He says the town is starting to see new businesses spring up as entrepreneurs look to provide new services in the booming corridor.
