(NewsDakota.com) In the Lions All-Star Girls Basketball Series the best high school senior in the state made their way to Bismarck and Fargo for the two night series. Amongst the group representing the Class A team was Valley City’s Dierra Diegel.

Diegel had a strong performance in both games fighting under the basket for points and also working the jumper from mid-range and behind the arch. In the opening game at the Bismarck Civic Center on Wednesday night, Diegel powered her way to 11 points and eight rebounds. With her help, Class A would edge out Class B in overtime 79-68.

On the second night in Fargo, it was another close game between the Class A and Class B All-Stars. This time it would be Class B who took the victory by a score of 59-51. Despite the loss, it was another big night for the Valley City stand out. Diegel was the only Class A player to finish the game in double digits posting 10 points in the loss. In a game that very easily could have been a one sided affair, the VCHS all-star helped keep her team within reach of their opponents.

In the Lions All-Star Series Diegel concluded what was already an impressive senior year of basketball.  With the Hi-Liners last season Diegel Averaged 19 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.25 assists and 3.58 steals a game. She will continue to play basketball in College next year when she attends  Northern State University (NCAA D II)  in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
