(NewsDakota.com) Post 25 took their show on the road to face fellow central region team Nelson County last night, the Owls won 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Carrington is now 11-5 in the central region and Nelson County post 162 improves to 12-4 in the region.
Carrington was leading 4-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. After starting pitcher Logan Clifton retired Ben Halverson and Tyler Gravseth, Riley Nelson and Jayden Grover each hit a single to keep the inning alive. Clean up batter, Dakota Hoyt, would come up with two on and two out and hit his second RBI double of the game to tie it. The next batter, Jon Lund would hit a grounder to third basemen Patrick Freeman, but Freeman misplayed the ball and that allowed Grover to score from third for the winning run.
The game featured three lead changes and three ties, winning pitcher Tyler Gravseth allowed 3 runs on six hits, only one walk and seven strikeouts. Logan Clifton was the losing pitcher giving up 4 earned runs on eight hits, two strikeouts and one walk.
Next up for Carrington will be central region tourney in Carrington starting Wednesday, July 23. Carrington will be the three seed and Nelson county will be the two seed.
