In the night cap, a Valley City victory was never in doubt as the home team jumped out early lead with six runs in the opening frame. This time Dietrich made his mark at the plate going a perfect three for three with three RBIs. Drew Oberlander and Garret Suhr backed him up with three hits apiece.
On the Mound Suhr earned the win pitching all five innings of the game giving up just two hits. He walked five batters and sat down eight on the strike out.
Valley Coach Lance Lukes said, “ We played some pretty good baseball today. Both pitchers struggled in their first innings then settled in with the lead that they were. It was nice to see our offense come alive from top to bottom with everyone chipping in picking up hits.”
Valley City wraps up the regular season tonight in Jamestown with a non-league double header. Games start at 5pm.
