Evenson, age 77, of Valley City, ND, died Wednesday, July 2nd at his residence in Valley City. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 10th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Thursday afternoon. Interment will be in the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery near Mandan, ND on Friday, July 11th.
Kenneth Marvin Evenson, the son of Hans and Inga (Skjerseth) Evenson, was born September 28, 1936 in Devils Lake, ND. Kenny grew up in the Lakota, ND area where attended school and graduated from Lakota High School in 1956. After his graduation, he attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. On October 25, 1958 he married Dorothy “Dotty” Keisacker in Lakota, ND. Kenny enlisted in the US Army and served his country from 1958 until 1961. After his discharge, Kenny worked for Lakota Utilities, Cass County Electric and for Public Works for many years in the Electrical Department. After his retirement Kenny also served as a City Commissioner, served on the Barnes County Planning and Zoning Board and also the Barnes County Water Resource District. Kenny was extremely proud of his military service and was a member of the AMVETS, American Legion, Eagles and a life member of the Girl Scouts.
Kenny is survived by his wife Dotty, Valley City, ND; one son, Dr. Jeffery (Jolene) Evenson, Las Vegas, NV; one daughter, Deborah Ramsay, Eagle, CO; grandchildren, Crystal Evenson, Brandon Evenson, Jarad Evenson, Zach Ramsay, Zeth Ramsay and Zoe Paris.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ting Evenson, Tollef Evenson, Inger Dion and Hazel Metejcek.
Kenny (Husband, Dad and Papa) was/is greatly loved and will always remain in our hearts. We will miss him dearly, but find peace in knowing we will be together one day.
