CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) It was a nice way to start out the month of July for members of Dakota Plains Cooperative, a division of CHS, Inc as the company distributed ,093,834 is cash this week to members of the North Dakota Cooperative.

General Manager Ken Astrup says the payment is the result of the recent merger of Dakota Plains Cooperative and CHS, Inc. The unallocated capital that was in Dakota Plains Cooperative, $7,373, 541 was transferred to CHS as part of the merger. The agreement called for 40 percent of the reserve to be returned in cash to members of the coop, based on the member’s ownership of Dakota Plains.

The balance of the reserve, $4,279, 706 became equity for members in CHS and will be paid out based on the equity redemption policy of CHS. The current policy says when a member reaches age 70, they can request payment.
