N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fort Seward was a garrisoned post from 1872 to 1877 in Jamestown to protect railroad workers while they built across the state.

Now home to the largest flag in North Dakota, Fort Seward has become a museum of sorts. Photos and relics fill the fort and during Tatanka Days and the White Cloud Festival in Jamestown, they’ll prepare to show some of their firepower as well. Keith Norman with Fort Seward stated that they’d also be bringing in a Gatling Gun for the weekend.

The cannon will also be shot off a few times at Fort Seward. The demonstration will take place at Fort Seward at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 5th. The event will be free and open to the public.
