N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Technology is allowing emergency services to better serve their communities with the new Text-to-911 system being installed across the state of North Dakota.
Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist stated that 911 services would soon be able to receive text messages in addition to emergency calls. Calling 911 won’t change with the new service, but people will be able to send texts, photos, videos and sound with the new service.
Stutsman County currently has the NextGen equipment and is waiting on one piece to record the text messages for reference. Cass County is already set for the Text-to-911 system and is expected to be initialized soon. Bergquist also stated that North Dakota was on track to become the only state to have the service installed in every dispatch center.
