I. Sylling, 69, of Oakes, ND, passed away June 18, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes.
Burma Irene was born March 22, 1945 at Veblen, South Dakota to Arlo and Frances (Heitmann) Hagenson. She grew up at Brampton, North Dakota, attending school in Brampton, Cogswell, and Forman. After her education, she was united in marriage to Leroy Likness on November 9, 1962. To this union two daughters were born, Brenda and Nadine. On July 3, 1976, she married Don Sylling, and together they had a son, Loren.
Family was very important to Burma. It would put a smile on her face whenever she spent time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burma also enjoyed volunteering at the Good Samaritan Society for many years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband Don; two daughters, Brenda (Mike) Ceroll, New Effington, SD and Nadine Waite and special friend Tom Mitchell, Brentford, SD; a son, Loren Sylling, Oakes; grandchildren, Amber (Brent) Fortin, Conde, SD, Samantha (Spencer) Hanson, Tolna, ND, Dirk (Jenna) Waite, Norfolk, NE, great-grandchildren, Shelbey & August Fortin, Blake & Dresyn Hanson. She is also survived by a brother, Boyd (Judy) Hagenson, Britton, SD; two sisters, Karleen (Steve) Swanholm, Lisbon, ND and Cindy (Jim) Ercink, New Effington, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burma was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and one brother, Darwin.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one prior to the service at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Oakes. Burial will be at the Oakes View Cemetery. An on-line guestbook may be signed at www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com
