(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team improved to 3-2 in Class B Southeastern Region play after a 5-1 victory in Lidgerwood Tuesday night against Post 84.

Post 36 score the first three runs of the game in the top of the first inning after batting through the lineup, and added another run in the fourth inning. Post 84 found the scoreboard with a tally in the bottom of the fourth, but Oakes recaptured the four run lead with another score in the sixth.

Bryce Meehl earned the victory for Oakes, improving to 2-1 in Southeast Regional contests; going all seven innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven. Brandon Wyum was on the losing end of the ticket with five runs allowed on eight his and four strikeouts in seven innings of work. Lidgerwood is now 2-5 in Southeast Region play.

Offensively, Post 36 had two runs batted in from Cole Kelly, Grayson Roney drove in a run and scored a run, and Kaleb Sell notched a double and scored as well.

Oakes is set to host Kindred on Friday, June 20. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com will start around 5:45 p.m., with first pitch around 6 p.m.
